Job Summary:
The Head of Credit will oversee the SACCO’s credit portfolio, ensuring sustainable loan growth while maintaining portfolio quality. The role involves strategic planning, credit risk management, loan appraisal, recovery, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Overall Objective:
To develop and implement credit policies and strategies that ensure a high-quality loan book and minimize risk exposure.
Reporting Line:
Reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement credit policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks.
- Oversee loan appraisal, approval, and recovery processes.
- Monitor credit portfolio performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with SACCO regulations and risk guidelines.
- Lead and develop the credit team to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
- Manage the loan book to ensure growth while maintaining portfolio quality.
- Analyze credit data to identify risk patterns and opportunities for product improvement.
- Implement strategies for loan recovery and debt collection.
- Prepare reports on credit performance for senior management and board review.
- Engage with regulators and ensure adherence to credit-related policies.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA, ACCA, or Credit Management certification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in credit risk management in a SACCO or financial institution.
